"The Power of One"

News & Blog

  • 5 September 2018:

Here is a letter that we have received very recently from one of the recipients of our student awards at SAIT: we are truly humbled:

My name is Hunter Mills and I am a second year student athlete at SAIT. I am a member of the men's hockey team and in the bachelor of business administration degree program. I know I have sent a thank you card but I didn't think that expressed my gratitude enough. I want to sincerely thank you for the scholarship I have received from your foundation. This scholarship will be a huge help to me financially.

However, this scholarship is not just about helping me financially but it has inspired me to be a leader in yours and my community. I want to be the difference in situations related to Brian's death. As a college student and hockey player I am often in situations not far from the one where Brian's life ended. Clubs, bars, pubs, and drinks tend to cause people to act in a way that is unacceptable and I know I am guilty of it myself which is inexcusable. Receiving this award is not only an eye opener but the catalyst in my desire to be the difference. Receiving The Brian Ludwig Memorial is an honor and I hope you understand my gratitude.

I cannot thank you enough not only for the financial help, but for the inspiration to be the difference.

    Sincerely,

    Hunter Mills
